Marketer, storyteller, and mom, embracing the chaos and sharing the flawsome side of life!
Balancing work, motherhood, and a love for books, while embracing the chaos and imperfections of life with humor and heart.
Hi, I’m Harshala Thakur – co-founder of Unscripted by Maa, marketer by skill, storyteller by heart, and professional chaos coordinator by destiny. At 30, I’m navigating life as an unmarried mom to 10-year-old, Ira, who keeps me on my toes (and sometimes on the verge of tears). She’s the CEO of my heart and the CFO of my wallet, handling all snack budgets with an iron fist.
My journey has been anything but conventional. With over 9+ years of experience as a mom blogger, I’ve seen the glamorous side of motherhood (read: the one perfect Instagram picture after 500 attempts), the not-so-glamorous side (you don’t want to know). I’ve juggled tantrums, deadlines, life goals, still found time to unlearn and relearn in life.
I’m also a passionate YouTuber, sharing my love for books, my attempts at living life as a main character and my very honest failures. Books are my escape from the madness. They don’t argue, don’t judge and they definitely don’t ask for snacks for the 100th time. Whether it’s diving into dark romances, reading something so unhinged that I am traumatised (I am here for all the trauma) or adding the 62728th book to my ever growing TBR, my bookshelf is my happy place.
Alongside my wild to – do list, I am building WebReady24, where I help turn plans on paper into content. Balancing work, motherhood, and a reading obsession should earn me an Olympic medal (or at least unlimited books). But I had to go ahead and toss in more seasoning than I could handle by going back to school while working full time. Let’s just all accept that I am turning into a mess (HOT MESS) and move on.
Unscripted by Maa is my brainchild with Udita, my best friend and a fellow single mom. Together, we’ve created a space to find comfort in the unfiltered chaos of motherhood. It’s not about perfection, it’s about making ramen for the third time this week and calling it “meal prepping,” while laughing at the fact that your child has a more active social life than you.
When I’m not raising Ira or creating content, you’ll find me experimenting with colourful outfits, binge-watching fantasy or sci-fi shows, dreaming of fictional men who don’t exist or manifesting Kim Namjoon in my life who doesn’t know I exist. I also love styling my home and it looks like it came straight out of a Pinterest board, even if Ira’s toys always ruin my aesthetic.
At Unscripted by Maa, we believe in being flawsome and sharing how we do exactly that. Whether it’s a massive fail or a small win, we share it all because life is one wild ride that’s better when shared. So, grab your stash of snacks (don’t tell the kids where you’re hiding it) and join us in experiencing this flawsome, unscripted life.
Welcome to the club, Maa.
You’re already doing your best!
With Love,
Harshala
